People’s interest in fashion jewelry is growing day by day, not least because they are easily accessible, affordable and look great. Especially in 2009, due to the global economic crisis, wood, plastic, glass, crystals and non-precious metals get more popularities as though lavish diamonds, white gold and golden will never be out of fashion, and still we can see that unique and wild fashion jewelry are fabulous. What’s more, most of the fashion jewelry can be bought and looked at in the local shop or increasing shops on the internet which can provide a large variety of such items suitable for different people.
Fashion jewelry comes in various types and includes bracelets, earrings, rings, necklaces and other ornaments. Also various styles such as beads, pearls, diamonds, chains, twist, and multi-chain or braided with elegant designs.
Bracelets, earrings and bracelets are often used to harmonize your clothing and overall look. If resources permit, you can buy a whole set of fashion jewelry to make your collection, and your appearance, near to perfect. Earrings are helpful in drawing away the attention from your face, shoulder and upper body. Some are dangling, shiny and simple while others are plain buttons on your ears. Choose the suitable one for your makeup and dressing.

Muslim Fashion
Fashion trends are constantly being admired and emulated, but what if you love fashion but prefer to be modest at the same time? A lack of modesty in fashion has been a huge conflict for Muslim women. Many retailers fail to provide fashionable but more modest clothing for Muslim consumers. “There is a tendency, in the Western world, to assume that if a Muslim woman is observant of her faith – and covering her body, with varying degrees of extremism, is symbolic of that observance – that she is automatically excluded from being fashionable; she is, in some way, “outside” of fashion.” (Buys 1). Fortunately, this is beginning to change and Muslim fashion trends are on the rise. After researching several Muslim fashion websites and Muslim designers I have become greatly inspired, thus making Muslims and modest seeking women my target customer.
Muslim designers recently showcased their latest designs at the Islamic Fashion Festival and they aren’t stopping there. They hope to establish Jakarta, Dubai, and Kuala Lumpur as Fashion Capitals. Another monumental event for the Muslim world took place during the Abu Dhabi Fashion Week at the Emirate’s Palace Hotel; several regional and international designers displayed their latest collections (“Abu Dhabi Fashion” I believe this to be a remarkable step towards uniting two completely different fashion worlds. The United Arab Emirates are constantly growing and developing, most importantly, proving that the western world is not the only leader in fashion. Dubai and Jakarta have every possibility of holding a reputation as high as Paris or Milan.
Nyla Hashmi, 23, and Fatima Monkush, 25, are two young up and coming fashion designers. Growing up they shared the same problem many Muslims have in the United States. “I saw how different the Pakistani and American adolescent cultures were. My parents wanted me to start dressing more modestly, because I was growing up. I wanted to dress cool like the other kids, but there was nothing in the stores” (Cincotta, Conn 1). Now they are designing chic and modest clothes that appeal to women of all kinds. Their Line, Eva Khurshid, plans to launch in February of 2009.
Muslim Fashion is rarely understood by the western world. “The discourse in the popular mind is one of the backwardness, violence and barbarity of Islam, Arabs and Muslims. The oppression of women is a given. This makes challenging the popular Western Stereotype that the veil is a symbol of Muslim women’s oppression an uphill battle” (Bullock, 33). There is more to Muslim women than just their veil. The hijab or veil carries significant religious meaning to the Muslim women. For them it does not signify oppression, as the American media purports. “Some Women feel it protects them from the gaze of men, and is thus liberating, offering them choice and even control over their lives” (Maynard 109)
I find that Muslim traditions have far too many misconceptions placed upon them by the Western world. My ultimate goal above all is to illustrate Muslim dress in a beautiful and modest fashion that appeals to the fashion world as well as aspects regarding modesty. I want to put to rest the ideas of oppression and black veils and depict modesty and Muslim dress as something that can be just as fashionable as other types of dress. I feel that Muslim and Islamic fashions have come along way and with the rise in designers and growth in Middle-eastern fashion markets, it is a deserving topic worthy of discussion. The Emirates and other cities are soon to be competing with the best- Paris, Milan, and the entire Western world.
